Devil’s Sidewinder Day Ride

The Devil’s Sidewinder Day Ride is one of the three Thunder Mountain Ride day rides. It will start at 10am, Saturday, October 9, 2010 from Home Depot, West Houston Mesa Rd, Payson, and ride north on Highway 87 through to Mormon Lake.

Starting from the Home Depot in Payson:

• Ride north on Highway 87 approximately 36 miles, then northeast on Forest Road 3 (paved). Enjoy the gentle curves and rolling hills through the stately pines of the Mogollon Rim to Mormon Lake.
• Photo ops: an eagle lookout near the lake and there are often elk in the marshes. On the way back to Payson, stop at the Tonto Natural Bridge State Park, if you wish.

Approximate roundtrip = 130 miles (about 3 hours)
